BIPOC Musical Theatre Program
Theatre & Songs, Where Every Kid Belongs!
Founder's Note - Queen Alexis
As a Black woman who grew up rarely seeing myself represented, I know how much it matters to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. This BIPOC program is deeply personal to me; it’s the space I needed as a child, and the space I’m dedicated to creating for the next generation.

What We’re Creating
At Queen’s Academy of The Arts, we are committed to creating intentional, culturally affirming spaces where Black and BIPOC youth can thrive through the performing arts. Since 2013, our mission has been rooted in confidence-building, creativity, representation, and community.
Upcoming: PILOT Musical Theatre Program
A Weekly Musical Theatre Program for Black and BIPOC youth, pilot program launching January 2026. This new initiative will provide:
-
A culturally safe and affirming creative environment
-
Opportunities to explore musical theatre through a lens that celebrates Black culture
-
Leadership development, mentorship, and community connection
-
Performance opportunities that empower and celebrate their voices
-
Long term: A performance opportunity at Iverna Island in Vancouver—a celebration of Black artistry and youth expression
This pilot is supported by a strategic budget designed to keep programming affordable and accessible, with sponsorships directly contributing to equity, inclusion, and high artistic quality.
Why This Matters
Representation shapes identity. When Black and BIPOC youth see their stories honoured in the arts, they gain confidence, resilience, and pride. This program is not just about musical theatre—it’s about building future leaders,
